United Way Day of Caring
- August 28, 2010 - Project: United Family Services Building
and Property
Our club gives back to the Monroe community one
citizen at a time. We obtain a name from the United Way and
spend a Saturday morning helping that homeowner with yard
work and needed chores. This year we trimmed hedges, pruned
trees, cleanout natural areas and prepared the debris for
pick up by Waste Collection.

The guys tackled the yard and property
while the ladies from the Wingate University Rotaract Club
worked inside.

College Scholarship Program
The largest ongoing service
project undertaken by the Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club
is providing scholarships to local students.
The unique feature which our scholarship program is
based upon is service to our community or to the
environment. Nominated students prepare a personal essay
about their service and present an oral presentation to club
members. We have student nominees from each high school
in Union County. Our Scholarship Committee reviews each
application and makes the decisions on the scholarships to
be awarded during our Annual Scholarship Banquet.
Union County is not only the fastest growing county
in North Carolina, it is also one of the fastest growing
counties in the country. Our challenge is to keep pace with
this growth. The Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club is
seeking "Partners in Excellence" to provide financial
sponsorship for our scholarship program.
We feel our service based scholarship program helps
to develop the community leaders of tomorrow. Your financial
support will assist these students in achieving their career goals and will also
help them along on the road to becoming the community
leaders of the future.
Your donations are welcome. Please
contact us if you
would like to
sponsor Union County's youth.
